Throughout my photography, I search for a thematic and aesthetic fascination with kinetic energy, especially insofar as the graceful movement of people often seems to defy the world’s gravity. Some say my animated imagery invites the eye to delve into philosophical and spiritual meditations, allowing you to notice the physical world anew. The kinetic aspects of my subjects, wordplay, wit, and figurative elucidate the recurrent softening of solemnity with levity within the work.

The red carpet is pure Hollywood magic. Whether you’re working the Dolby Theatre or a museum in New York City, it’s an unparalleled rush. Hundreds of photographers crowd into a tiny space fighting for every inch, trying to pull the famous eyes into their lens exclusively. Sometimes you get your photo and sometimes you fall flat on your face. It is preordained that you are going to miss some celebrities as they walk by and you have to persevere and anticipate the next entry. At the end of the event, I literally have thousands of photos. Only the superlative photos make the cut. The rest get deleted.

It is believed that journeys are enriching experiences, with the insinuation that new knowledge and deeper insight allow travelers to gain wisdom and solidify a coherent view of the world. Yet, experiences through journeys can result in new familiarity clashing with preconceived notions, theoretically disabling one’s metaphysics. This is my goal each time I snap my shutter down to capture a destination. My goal is to make impossible for anyone who gains this new perspective to return to his or her prior self at the expedition’s finale.
